The Zappeion Megaron is an important landmark in Athens and a modern venue for conferences, exhibitions, and special events. It’s located in the historic centre of Athens within walking distance of the Acropolis and the marble Panathinaic Stadium of the 1896 Olympic Games. The Zappeion Megaron is surrounded by over 200 000 square meters of gardens with meandering paths, fountains and over 70 neoclassical sculptures.
The Zappeion was used during the 1896 Summer Olympics as the main fencing hall. A decade later, at the 1906 Intercalated Games, it was used as the Olympic Village. It has also served as the host for the 2004 organizing committee (ATHOC) and the press center during the 2004 games.
The Zappeion Megaron has approximately 7 500 square meters of space suitable for exhibitions and conferences. A central atrium of 984 square meters can be used for conferences, concerts, cocktail parties and sit-down dinners. There are two interior open courtyards of 957 square meters each which are utilized as service areas.
