Malta continues to be one of the most popular Mediterranean destinations for large conferences and action packed incentive travel programs. Kenneth Baldacchino, Managing Director of Event Solutions Malta, believes the “new” Marriott Hotel & Spa, that has just re-opened, will be a best seller for corporate groups in 2020.
Opening in January following a a €30M renovation investment, the Malta Marriott Hotel & Spa is located in picturesque Balluta Bay, St. Julian’s. A short 20-minute drive from Malta’s capital Valletta, the hotel is the perfect escape destination sitting over a sandy beach and tranquil seafront promenade within the bustling, cosmopolitan town of St. Julian’s.
The contemporary designed hotel will have 301 rooms – including 25 Club Rooms, 29 Suites and a 150 square-metre Presidential Suite with views of the iconic Balluta Bay. It will also feature the M Club Lounge. Located on the top floor with outdoor terraces and sprawling views of the Mediterranean Sea, this new lounge provides the ideal space to work, recharge, connect and relax.
The hotel will have five restaurants and three bars. It’s signature restaurant, Taro is housed at The Villa, a 19th century palazzo adjacent to the hotel’s grounds overlooking the bay and perfect for VIP gala dinners. Excellent conference facilities with 12 meeting rooms are perfect for pharmaceutical conferences needing many breakout rooms. The largest of these, Gallery Room, can conference 320 theatre style, 220 schoolroom style and 220 for banquet. Other facilities include indoor and outdoor pools, a fully equipped spa and fitness centre.
Malta Marriott Hotel & Spa General Manager Alex Incorvaja said, “Following this extensive renovation and upgrade to all rooms, restaurants and bars, we are thrilled to be opening our doors to guests this winter, positioning ourselves as one of Malta’s leading 5-star properties. By being part of Marriott International’s leading global travel programme Bonvoy, the hotel and of course the destination itself, will be exposed to over 110 million loyal members.”
