Roberta Perez, founder of Nordic Ways, shares her DMC knowledge and experience:
“As a DMC, you need to prepare attractive programs to stand out in the bidding process. Providing a unique experience for the guests is often the biggest challenge for DMCs, along with meeting the budget.
“You need to motivate a creative offer with unique experiences that connect with the spirit of your destination, providing unforgettable memories. Look at your activities through the eyes of those who will experience them to understand if that activity is going to be a wow experience.
“Understand the cultural background of your client before creating the program and choosing the various components such as business visits, adventure, food concepts, team building and entertainment.
“Creating a top-class incentive program requires a lot of dedication and expertise. You need to have in-depth knowledge of your destination. As an event manager, you need to have your radar on and dedicate time to site inspections, field trips, being up to date with news from different sectors and learning all you can about your destination. What is your destination’s long-term vision? What are the investment and social priorities of the country, region and cities? What is happening in industry and the economy? This knowledge can give you the edge.
“At Nordic Ways, we also invest in our team. In November 2018, our project managers participated in a study trip to Lapland. We visit suppliers, meet out partners at Luleå (Swedish lapland) and keep our minds open to new experiences.
