Love it wild, live it wild!
Heritage Nature Reserve is a unique natural playground stretching between mountains and sea in the south of Mauritius. It’s perfect for nature lovers and eco-adventurers to explore, enjoy and protect. Our local DMC in Mauritius, Indibleu DMC can organize the following activities for corporate groups and holidaymakers.
4×4 Safari
The Reserve looks like the African savanna. Expert guides can take you on a 2-hour 4×4 tour into the heart of the rich biodiverse Bel Ombre landscape supporting a diverse range of endemic flora and fauna. You can also experience nature-by-night.
Eco Quad or Eco Buggy Tour
Satisfy your thrill-seeking side with an exhilarating and bumpy ride across the reserve, home to an amazing variety of life forms and a beautiful natural setting of waterfalls, rivers, mountains and valleys. Spot deer, monkeys and wild boar and swim at the waterfall.
Guided Trek with a Ranger
Explore the endemic forest at the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve on a 5-hour guided trek. A knowledgeable and passionate local ranger will lead you along scenic trails and show you an area that will make you feel like a character in Jurassic Park. You’ll also learn about the conservation efforts being made to preserve the island’s endemic vegetation.
Picnic Pods
Guests are taken by Land Rover to one of two exceptional picnic spots, designed by award-winning Nomadic Resorts. A true tropical Back to Nature experience. Connect with your family or friends while enjoying a wholesome Mauritian picnic, lounge by the river in a hammock with a glass of wine and enjoy the traditional games of Molky and Tic Tac Toe. Picnic Frédérica is near the foot of the Frédérica Waterfalls and Picnic Cipayes is located in L’Abattis next to a natural pool where a huge tree has created a natural bridge across the stream.
Roving picnics
Take a premium guided outing in a Land Rover along the most scenic routes in the southwest of Mauritius. You’ll stop at exceptional locations such as the viewpoint of Macondé, Le Morne, One-eye, Pied la Fourche, Case Noyale and Le Chamarel Restaurant. Here you can enjoy delicious Mauritian creole crepes and the locally grown and roasted Café de Chamarel. The tour then heads up to Plaines Champagne, down the Watook trail, through the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and finishes with a light picnic near the Pink Pigeon conservation station.
