• Mariachis music and tequila welcome.
• Explore the colorful floating gardens of Xochimilco onboard a typical “trajinera” (barge). All the women in the group receive a flower hairband.
• Dinner at the sublime Spanish colonial-style Antigua Hacienda de Tlalpan restaurant.
• Witness sunrise over Teotihuacan – one of the most significant and haunting archaeological sites in the world – onboard a hot-air balloon.
• A local shaman will perform a cleansing ceremony before enjoying lunch at La Gruta – set in a vast, cool cave, used by the pre-hispanic inhabitants of Teotihuacan for food storage.
• Late afternoon panoramic city tour along elegant boulevards into the historic center, and “fiesta party time” at the Museo del Tequila.
• Visit the beautiful colonial town of Taxco, set on a steep hillside with narrow cobbled streets. We will explore Taxco by beetle taxi and on foot, taking in the magical atmosphere. Time to shop for it’s famous silver jewellery!
• Gala dinner at Hacienda de los Morales, built in the 16th century to house a mulberry farm, and now one of Mexico’s most elegant dinner venues.

If you can plan your visit over 2 November this is the Day of the Dead with great celebrations. According to popular Mexican belief, the dead have divine permission to visit friends and relatives on earth once a year. On this day, the living welcome the souls of the departed with offerings of flowers, specially prepared foods, candles and incense. This is not a morbid occasion, but one of peace and happiness. Many wonderful Day of the Dead traditions can be incorporated in the itinerary!
